Lost:
"A Tale of Two Cities"

What a great season opener! I was impressed...I keep thinking they are going to screw things up but they always surprise me. I didn't get many answers to my questions but I was very satisfied. There are spoilers below!

We begin with a lady we don't know. She is at home and is preparing to host a book club meeting. We find out her name is Juliet and the book she is reading is Stephen King's Carrie. Everyone shows up and in the middle of the meeting there is an earthquake!

Everyone goes outside when it is over and we see familiar faces! We got to see "not Henry Gayle", Ethan and Goodwin were all there in this little neighborhood.

They all hear something in the sky and they look up just in time to see our Oceanic flight 815 split apart and crash! "not Henry Gayle" tells Ethan to go to the place where the front of the plane crashed and Goodwin to go to the back. He told them to make "lists".

Then we see the little neighborhood is actually smack in the middle of the island! Ahhhh! Awesome!

At the end of last season Jack, Kate and Sawyer were all taken prisoner by the others. Now we see that they are each being held in different places.

Jack is in a weird glass cell:

Kate is in a shower room:

Sawyer is in a bear cage:

They each have a "handler". Jack has Juliet. Kate has "Mr Friendly" and Sawyer has weird guy in the cage across the way!

To avoid confusion I will break down each person's story (for this episode) separately.

First up is Kate:

Kate is told to take a shower, when she refuses to shower in front of Mr. Friendly he informs her that she is "not his type". He burns her clothes and leaves her a pretty sun dress to wear. When she is dressed he takes her to "not Henry Gayle" on a beach.

He shares breakfast with her (after she handcuffs herself) and informs her that the next two weeks will be very unpleasant. Later she is deposited in the cage across the way from Sawyer.

Sawyer wakes up in a bear cage. It has a bazaar feeding system...it takes him a good while to figure it all out. The guy in the cage across the way breaks out of his cage and lets Sawyer out of his cage. Sawyer runs for it and is stopped by Juliet who uses a weird tazar thing on him.

He wakes up back in his cage and gets ribbed by Mr Friendly because the bears figured out the food system in only two hours. Sawyer sees Kate in the cage across the way and throws her a fish biscuit that he got from the feeding system.

Jack is in the glass cell. Juliet keeps trying to get him to stand against the far wall so she can slide some food in the room with him. She tells him that he will dehydrate if he isn't careful. He finally agrees and when she opens the door he attacks her.

He gets her out into a hall way and finds a door he is convinced leads "out". She won't open it. "Not Henry Gayle" shows up and Jack threatens to kill her if they don't open the door. "NHG" tells him to go ahead and kill her because if he opens the door they will all die anyway. Jack wimps out and throws her to the side...he opens the door only to find there is sea water behind it. "NHG" locks Jack and Juliet in with the rising water.

They find a way out and Juliet punches Jack. He gets knocked out and wakes up in the glass cell again. This is another hatch. It is underwater and was once called The Hydra. Jack finally breaks down and takes the food.

In flashback world we find that Jack went all crazy when his wife left him. He all stalked her like a maniac. He accused his father of sleeping with her and attacked him at an AA meeting. This landed him in jail. His wife bailed him out and informed him that his father had fallen off the wagon again because of his harsh words before.

At the end of the episode we find out "Not Henry Gayle" is really named Ben and that he and Juliet do not like each other at all.

All in all I give this episode a full on thumbs up. Loved it! I can't wait till the next one!
