LOST

"The Glass Ballerina"

I love this episode of Lost, I really do. We finally find another piece of the Sun/Jin puzzle and we see that things are really not what they seem. I think I will handle this recap the same way I did the last one. I will talk about the Jin/Sun/Sayid story line first then I will discuss the Sawyer/Kate story. I will wrap it up with Jack's story. As usual, there are SPOILERS BELOW!!! If you want to enlarge the screen shots just click them! Now on to the show!

We start off with, you guessed it, a glass ballerina. It shatters on the floor and we realize that a very young Sun has broken it. When confronted by her father Sun looks at him and tells a bold faced lie. She says the maid did it.

Sun never does tell the truth about that ballerina and it results in the firing of the maid. This is the first indication that maybe Sun isn't as honest and good as we all thought she was.

We find Jin/Sun/Sayid are still on the sailboat from last season. They have lit the signal fire for Jack's group but no one has showed up. Sayid is concerned. All Jin wants is to get his wife and unborn child back to the camp. When Sayid suggests they go a bit further to light another fire Jin looses his cool.

Sun (who is acting as a translator) tells Jin to chill and tells Sayid that they will go and make a new fire. Turns out she can drive a sail boat too.

We flashback to Sun in bed and BAM--that's not Jin. Know we know that Sun has lied about never sleeping with another man. Her father catches her with her english tutor who has asked Sun to run away with him to America. He gave her a pearl necklace that will show up later. Her father goes to Jin and tells him that the tutor has stolen from him and wants Jin to kill him.

When Jin refuses the father gives him a guilt trip and in the end Jin agrees to do it. When he tells Sun he has to send someone a message she knows exactly what is going on. She begs him to run away with her and he just gets frustrated and runs out. He finds the tutor and beats the crap out of him. He goes to shoot him and then stops. He tells the man to leave the country and to never ever come back.

Jin leaves and when he goes to start his car a body lands on the hood. It is the tutor and he is holding the pearl necklace. Sun show up at the funeral and her father finds her there. She wants to know if he will tell on her and he says, "that's not my place."

The trio finds the pier that Jack/Kate/Sawyer were captured on. Sayid wants to trap the others because he thinks they may have captured his friends. He tells Sun to lie to Jin about why they are there. He figures once the fire is lit Jin will have no choice but to help him. Sun lies again and Jin pretty much calls her out. Turns out that he understands english a bit more than she thought.

At night they send Sun to the boat while Jin and Sayid wait to ambush the others. The problem is the others want the boat and that is where they show up...not on shore. Sun is confronted with Other: Colleen. She tells Colleen that she will shoot her if she doesn't let her leave the boat. Colleen argues that Sun is no killer. Sun shoots her and all Hell breaks loose. Everyone starts shooting and Sun barely escapes before The Others steal the boat. Sayid tells the couple that he is sorry and that from now on he will listen to Jin.

Back at Othersville we see that they plan on making Kate and Sawyer break rocks and haul them away. This job seems to have no purpose other than keeping prisoners occupied. If they do anything that Other: Pickett (Colleen's boyfriend) doesn't like he will shock them.

They play along for a good while. While Kate is breaking rocks Alex (Roussou's long lost daughter) whispers to her from a bush. She wants to know if they have seen Carl (the guy that tried to escape with Sawyer). Kate says no and Alex disappears. When Juliet offers Sawyer some water he takes her canteen and empties it on the ground.

He decides he wants to kiss Kate and once again all hell breaks loose! Later we find out that he was trying to find out if they could really fight or if this was all an act. He is pretty sure that they have never really seen "action" and that he and Kate can take them if they get an opportunity. He says that Juliet is the one to watch out for. She would have no problem shooting either one of them.

Jack is depressed. He is still locked up in The Hydra. Ben (not Henry Gayle) comes into his holding tank and introduces himself formally. His name is Ben Linus and he has lived on the island "all his life". Jack doesn't believe him. Ben tells him about things that have happened in America since he has been missing.

The funniest one was that the Red Sox won the world series. Jack laughs out loud until they show him a video of the Sox winning. Ben wants Jack to "do something for them". He says that when Jack does this "something" that he will be taken home.

Well I thought the episode was rockin'! I do have a few questions for you to think about though:

1. Did Sun's lover commit suicide or was he pushed? He landed face up on the hood of the car. If he had jumped wouldn't he be more likely to land face down? Why would he jump? Where was Sun when this happened? If she knew Jin was going to kill him wouldn't she try to warn him? HMMMM...

2. How did The Others get on the boat without getting wet?

3. Don't you think it's odd that every woman who has been surprise shot on this show is blonde and they have all been shot in the same place in the stomach? The only one who hasn't may be Anna Lucia...but I know Libby, Shannon and now Colleen were.

4. Henry Gayle has a live video/audio feed of a lot of places on the island...has he been watching them the whole time?

5. How does Alex know Carl? Is he her boyfriend?

6. Since when has Kate been all meek and mild mannered? Is she planning something? Did something happen between her breakfast with Ben and her meeting up with Sawyer in the cages?

That's all for now! See you next week!

I think she had something to do with it. The only motivation I can think of is her knowing that her father would be livid if Jin didn't carry out his wishes. The big question to me is why would he hold onto the pearls? Maybe he tried to give them to her again before she pushed. It could also have been another of Sun's fathers goons. Who knows!?!? My next big question is: How long was it between the last time she hooked up with her boy toy and the crash. If they have been on the island for so many days and she was already pregnant, wouldn't she be showing...or at least suspecting she was pregnant? Maybe the baby does belong to Jin...or someone else on the island.
